The Warren County Board of Supervisors has narrowed its list of a County Administrator candidates to three people, down from a pool of 17, and the board hopes to have a person in place before the start of the new year, officials tell FoothillsBusinessDaily.com. This will be a second interview for each candidate.
The interviews are scheduled for the county’s Personnel, Administration & Higher Education committee meeting Nov. 15. The county has not released the names of the three, though an agenda for the meeting is expected today or tomorrow, Thursday Nov. 10.
Town of Chester Supervisor Craig Leggett has been serving as acting county administrator since August after then-County Administrator Ryan Moore took a position with Behan Communications in Glens Falls.

According to the advertisement for the position, the successful candidate will manage the County government, work with department heads, with the Budget Officer and budget staff, and with the Board of Supervisors and Treasurer. The administrator will also facilitate collective bargaining negotiations with the county's six unions.
"The Board of Supervisors is seeking candidates with excellent communication and facilitation skills as well as strong business and/or public service experience," the job posting says. Those requirements include a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field along with years of experience. The county is somewhat flexible on the mix of degree-to-experience.
According to the county website, the job entails:
- Furnishing data necessary in preparation of the annual budget
- Computing tax rates for both the county and towns and verification of town budgets
- Preparing tax rolls and furnishing financial data to the Real Property Tax Services Department
- Signing tax warrants and filing abstracts of tax levy with the County Treasurer
- Coordinating informational and advisory services as the Board of Supervisors may require
- Implementing programs and policies of the Board of Supervisors to promote efficiency
- Serving as liaison between the Board of Supervisors and several administrative departments
- Submitting reports and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, and providing such other assistance as may be requested
- Performing duties as prescribed by law and directed by the Board of Supervisors
