From a press release: Warren County District Attorney Jason M. Carusone announced that Warren County First Assistant District Attorney Matthew D. Burin has received the prestigious Robert M. Morgenthau Award for exemplary work as a prosecutor.
The Robert M. Morgenthau Award, established in 2009 by the District Attorneys Association of State of New York, recognizes assistant district attorneys whose professional accomplishments, honesty, integrity, and commitment to justice exemplify Mr. Morgenthau’s high standards during his tenure as New York County District Attorney.
Burin was one of three prosecutors from across New York honored with the Morgenthau award during DAASNY's Winter Conference earlier this month.
“I am thrilled to extend my congratulations to Matthew D. Burin for being awarded the highly regarded Robert M. Morgenthau award. This prestigious recognition truly speaks to the dedication and hard work that Matthew has put in throughout his career as an assistant district attorney. Honorable Kathleen B. Hogan hired Matthew to serve as an assistant district attorney in 2005 and he has worked in the Warren County District Attorney’s Office ever since. His commitment to justice is a true representation of the high standards set by former New York County District Attorney Morgenthau. The trust and respect that Matthew has earned from his peers is a testament to his exceptional professionalism and unwavering dedication to his role. I celebrate this achievement and recognize the positive impact that Matthew has made in the pursuit of justice. I am grateful to work with such an outstanding individual," D.A. Carusone said.
Assistant District Attorney Burin remarked: “I am very honored to receive this recognition and proud to be a part of this select group of recipients.”
District Attorney Carusone also recognized this year’s other award recipients, Peter O. Kennedy, Chief, Technical Investigation Bureau, Bronx County and Miss Gregory, Chief, Special Victims Bureau, Kings County.

Fire & Ice will be cancelled this Friday, Feb. 17
From a press release: With milder weather on the way, event organizers in the City of Glens Falls have decided to cancel this Friday’s “Fire & Ice”. Event organizers will continue to monitor the conditions of the ice with the hopes of holding the event the following Friday, February 24.
“Last week was not perfect, but people still had fun” states Ward 3 Councilwoman Diana Palmer, who helps manage the event. “This week, it will be in the 50s and the pond will probably not be safe.”
“I know the sides are already softening up” says Tom Girard, Superintendent of the City’s Department of Public Works. “We will monitor the ice and, if we lose too much, I will post ‘no skating’ signs like normally we do.”
