Christkindlmarkt set for Friday: New beer garden and Fritz’s Polka Band
The final details of the Adirondack Christkindlmarkt are about set, says Glens Falls Collaborative President Nancy Turner. The second annual shopping event in Glens Falls has had some recent changes to the line-up of vendors, but Turner said she has locked in 35-plus retail sales vendors plus many food vendors.
"So, we're doing really well,” she said.
New this year is a beer garden hosted by MeanMax Brew Works of Glens Falls. They will set up in a tent near the corner of Maple and Ridge streets.
The market in Glens Falls City Park runs Friday Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. through Sunday Dec. 4 at 4 p.m.
Santa Claus will slide down Glen Street from Crandall Park to City Park starting Friday evening at 5:15 p.m. At City Park, Santa and Glens Falls Mayor Bill Collins will light the Christmas tree to officially open the festivities.
Kids will be able to meet Santa. Horse and carriage rides will be available.
"We have a full line of entertainment,” said Turner who owns the Bell House Inn on Bay Street in Glens Falls.
Fritz's Polka Band out of Verona, N.Y., will play Sunday afternoon. Despite their name, they are an eclectic mix of polka, rock and blues, their website says.

Warrensburg: Warren County Career Center holding a upcounty job fair Monday, Dec. 12
From a press release: Registration has begun for employers who would like to be part of the Warren County Career Center upcounty job fair.
Businesses located in Warrensburg, Chester, Johnsburg, Thurman, Horicon, Hague and Stony Creek are invited to be part of the hiring event, which will be held at Warrensburg Fire Station at 18 Elm Street, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be space for up to 20 businesses, and this event will include Warren County agencies such as Warren County Department of Public Works and Countryside Adult Home.
“While the unemployment rate remains low, we still see great value in hosting job fairs to promote all of the great employment options that exist in our community. We have excellent places to work in the northern part of the county and sometimes they just need the spotlight and the exposure so more residents know about these employers,” said Liza Ochsendorf, Warren County Director of Workforce Development.
This event comes on the heels of Warren County Career Center’s first in-person job fair in two years, held October 20, 2022 at Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls. That event drew 11 employers and 31 job seekers.
Businesses are asked to register through this online form, but job seekers are not required to register and can just walk in between 9am-1pm.
