Getting a building permit application approved is a process often lost in the machinery of any city government, but a website unveiled at the Saratoga Springs City Council meeting Monday Nov. 2, hopes to change that.
Deputy Mayor Lisa Shields unveiled the page on the city's website showing where dozens of permits were in the four stages of the process: new application, incomplete; application complete, waiting for available inspector; applications in review [by the inspector]; and application review on hold, applicant action needed.
A nifty pie chart on the page also shows how many permits are in each phase. At this writing, 145 applications were listed.
The Permit Application Status page will tell a person where the permit is in the queue, not tell a person how much time is left, Shields warned.
"We process those [permits], first in, first out," she said.
Applicants must have the application number in order to find their project. The applications and basic data are shown. Details about the project are not linked to the entries.
