The Target store in Saratoga Springs is among the latest of the department stores to be overhauled by the Minnesota-based chain. This is one of more than 100 renovations underway, the company website says.
“We’ve reimagined hundreds of stores over the past several years,” a corporate spokesperson said. “These remodels bring more digital experiences to our stores that make shopping even easier, safer and more inspiring for our guests — and uniquely Target.”
The updates in the Saratoga Springs store are scheduled to be complete by year’s end and include:
- Modern décor and fixtures, including additional mannequins and displays.
- Specialty LED lighting to create a shopping experience for guests the spokesperson described as both “hip and cool” and “warm and inviting.”
- Merchandise displays — including in home, apparel and beauty sections — to help guests visualize how to pair products.
- Updated spaces and expanded services to support order pickup, returns and exchanges to give guests more options for a safe and convenient shopping experience.
- A nursing space.
- Front-of-store revisions that promote guest and team member safety, including larger spaces between checkout lanes and Plexiglas barriers.
- Updated restrooms with touch-free features.
- Contactless self-checkouts.
“Target is committed to investing in the guest experience through our store design,” the spokesperson said.
The store at 3031 Route 50 in Saratoga Springs is one of more than 1,900 in the chain.
Sales in the second quarter of this year were up almost 9%, on top of a company record of 24.3% last year, with online sales growing during the pandemic. However, 95% of the company’s sales are still in-store sales, the company says in press materials. Many customers choose to purchase online and use the same-day pick-up option at the stores.
