The Saratoga Springs Planning Board approved two subdivisions of property in their meeting Thursday evening.
One on the east side of town is two blocks south of Greenridge cemetery at the southeast corner of Joshua and Crescent streets. The second, on the west side, sits at 59 Franklin St., in the Franklin Square Historic District.
Homeland Properties LLC is subdividing the lot at 50 Crescent St. The plan calls for removal of the abandoned single-family home, clearing brush and replacing it with space enough for two, single family homes. Placement of sidewalks, trees and streetlights were discussed. The Environmental Design Partnership LLP represented the client at the meeting.
In the same meeting, David and Richard DeVall have gained permission to move forward with a subdivision at 59 Franklin St., a large lot which sits along Cherry Street between Franklin Street and Marvin Alley. The LA Group represented them in the planning meeting.
The lot has a current two-story structure and parking lot. Those will remain, and the parking lot will be reshaped.
On the second parcel, the plan is for a house that faces Cherry Street with a garage along Marvin alley.
Sidewalks again had a discussion. Along with the normal inclusion of wheelchair accessible curbcuts, the new sidewalk along Marvin Alley will be set on the property owner’s space. This requires a legal easement that will be completed.
“We’ve seen this [plan] a number of times,” said board member Todd Fabozzi just before the final vote. “The applicants have been determined and have tried to rework things to try and get something acceptable and I think that they’ve arrived at that.”
The plan had taken over five years to complete. Both applications passed unanimously.
