The 46th annual South High Marathon Dance will be closed to the public when it kicks off on Friday, March 3, at the South Glens Falls Senior High School.
Each dancer will receive two passes for parents or family members. Only those with passes will be allowed to attend the dance at the high school on Friday from 6 to 10:30 p.m., and Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to closing.
Last year’s event, held at the Great Escape, raised more than $515,000.
“When surveying the students, it was clearly important to them that we try to return the dance to the school after two years away due to Covid measures. Being cognizant of the need to remain cautious regarding student, volunteer and community members’ health, the organizers have made several changes to the way the event will take place,” the Marathon Dance Board of Directors said in a statement.
All other ancillary activities — the snack bar, raffles, face-painting, haircuts and merchandise sales — will be held at Tanglewood Elementary School and be open to the public. Hours at Tanglewood will be 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 3; and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 4.
