Alfred W. "Al" Snow IV began as the Tourism Director for Warren County on Sept. 12 this year, and about nine weeks later, he has left.
Word has come from Warren County that Snow, most recently from Florida, has moved back. FoothillsBusinessDaily.com has learned there is a resignation letter, but sources did not have details to share. And Snow did not give much time between handing in the letter and departing, the sources said.
This is a breaking story, and will be updated as events require.
Warren County Board of Supervisors Chair Kevin Geraghty said in a statement:
“We were disappointed to learn that Mr. Snow decided to resign his position and return to Florida, where he lived and worked before his hiring by Warren County in August.
“We thank Mr. Snow for his contributions to our Tourism Department during his time here, and wish him the best going forward.
“Members of the Board of Supervisors will be discussing Warren County’s next steps for future leadership within the Tourism Department in the coming days, but in the interim our Tourism staff will continue to work hard to show off our wonderful county to the world.”
Snow had replaced Joanne Conley who had spent 6-and-a-half years as the tourism director before her retirement at the end of May.
The board of supervisors hired Snow in August and he began in September.
A county press release at the time said Snow was a native of Central New York with connections to the Adirondacks and Warren County.
The county Director of Tourism is responsible for planning, developing and implementing programs to promote Warren County and its facilities and businesses as a premier destination for leisure travel, group tours and special events through marketing and advertising campaigns. The director oversees a department of five full-time and two-part-time staff members.
The next tourism committee meeting of the county board is set for Monday Nov. 22. Much of the committee's work revolves around the occupancy taxes collected in the county and budgeting them for marketing.
