Adirondack Theatre Festival, July 20 to Aug. 14
Patrons to the Wood Theatre for the Adirondack Theater Festival this summer will get treated to a small concert before each show. Local performers will play in the parking area behind the building.
Called “Shows on the Side,” the concerts will keep patrons entertained and also keep them from congregating in the lobby before the show, which are inside again this year.
COVID restrictions brought out creative ways to maintain social distancing, Trevor Strader, the theatre festival’s company manager, writes in a special request for lighting that passed through the Glens Falls Common Council last night, Tuesday May 25.
The festival was granted permission to string lights in the alley between the Wood Theatre building, at 207 Glen Street, and the Spot Coffee building next door, so that people can walk the alley safely between the small concert area and the front of the Wood Theatre.
The concerts are free and open to the public. The concerts, and festival, run July 20 to 31 and August 5 to 14, 7:00 to 7:30 p.m., excluding Aug. 9.
More outside dining and food trucks:
Carly Mankouski, of 26 Ridge St. LLC, better known as Radici Kitchen and Bar, won approval of chairs and tables on the sidewalk in front of 26-28 Ridge St. The request calls for four tables and eight chairs. They will be set up at 5 p.m. each evening and taken down at 11 p.m., the application says. The permit runs from June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022, and the seating must follow New York State’s COVID guidelines.
Another food truck has been approved for the LARAC Summer Arts Festival in downtown Glens Falls. Johnstown resident Laura Mason, owner of the Mason Jar, won approval both for the truck and for a 20-foot square lemonade tent.
The Hangry Scot is back. Barry Waterston, of Schenectady, already won approval for his food truck at the Lawrence Street Tavern, at 28 Cooper St., on May 1 and Nov. 6, and he is back for another go. The approval this time is to vend at the same location but on June 5, subject to state COVID guidelines.
IRKA, LLC, was granted an encroachment permit for the awning over 3 Broad St. It’s a renewal of the current permit for Gary McCoola, the resolution says. It runs June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022.
