The magazine featuring an interview with Owen Wilson will arrive on racks Monday March 20, 2023.
Saratoga Living publisher Abby Tegnelia scored one of the biggest gets of 2023: An interview with the elusive Owen Wilson, star of the movie “Paint” which was filmed in SpaCity in April 2021. Saratoga Living is the only media outlet in the Capital Region to get an interview.
Tegnalia is making the rounds today on WTEN, Channel 10 Albany, in the earlier morning, and on the Saratoga Podcast at noon to talk about interviewing the star who is not a fan of interviews.
“Owen made us wait until the very last minute to agree to the interview, so even that turned out to be exciting. But we got it all done, and we can't wait for the copies to arrive,” Tegnalia said to FoothillsBusinessDaily.com.
The free lifestyle magazine hits the racks Monday March 20 with Wilson on the cover. The movie opens nationwide in theaters, April 7.
The AMC 11 theater on Railroad Place in downtown Saratoga Springs does not list the movie on its upcoming shows webpage.
Apparently Regal Cinemas has the release: Aviation Mall in Queensbury has the show listed, as do the other Regal cinemas in Clifton Park, Colonie Center and Crossgates Mall.
Tegnalia knew she wanted him on the cover immediately, she said, but it took months of work for her to land the interview, and it had to be completed without a leak to other news outlets, she told FoothillsBusinessDaily.com. She reached out after shooting was completed and then worked to get the interview “in earnest” in November.
"Owen's shooting ‘Paint’ right in downtown Saratoga was such a moment in time—lockdown had just ended, and the town was electric,” Tegnelia has said. “Throw in an A-list celeb, and it was a thrilling few weeks. The whole town seemingly wanted to meet him, and there were often huge crowds congregating around wherever they were filming. We just had to ask him what it was like from his point of view!”
Tegnalia did not release too much about the article itself, but she said Wilson rode his bicycle to the Saratoga Race Course to watch the horses train. Peter Brant, the world-renowned art collector, has a house in Saratoga for track season, and he told Wilson he would love it.
"It'd be fun to go see the horse races,” Wilson told the magazine. “I met one of the trainers and got to see the horses doing their morning runs. It's such an interesting, cool world."
