Saratoga Springs City Council members joined the two county supervisors on hand, kvetching just a bit that people kept looking to them asking why the city had no early voting location. Saratoga Springs voters who chose to fill a ballot early ended up in places like Ballston Spa.
The city council and county board do not choose these locations. The county's board of elections makes those choices, the commissioners and supervisors explained.
This turned the discussion to election year road signs and just how ugly the council in general finds them. Although Commissioner John P. Franck quickly pointed out that the signs cannot be totally banned on public property--the First Amendment, you know--the council plans to look at ways to curb the signs before next year's council elections.
