StoredTech of Queensbury has announced a purchase of NOAH IT, LLC of Raleigh, N.C., for an undisclosed sum. The sale closed Saturday April 30, and the NOAH staff was moved into space at StoredTech’s Raleigh offices by close-of-business Monday May 2, StoredTech CEO Mark Shaw said. Allan Polak, the owner of NOAH IT will become a Director of Business Development for StoredTech. NOAH IT was a company of three, and all were brought into StoredTech, Shaw said. StoredTech made the announcement Tuesday May 10.
The move was made to increase StoredTech’s growing Raleigh presence. This acquisition brings more clients to StoredTech’s Managed Service Provider platform and, it brings more services to NOAH IT’s base of clients, a press release says.
Shaw spent last week in Raleigh moving the staff in and meeting about 70% of NOAH’s clients, he said.
“Pleasantly surprised by everybody I’ve met,” Shaw said. “It feels like family. It’s probably the best acquisition we have done.”
Shaw said discussions began after StoredTech took one client from NOAH IT, and surprisingly, Polak, took it well. The two stayed in touch.
“I’ve never taken a client from somebody and had such an easy situation, such a friendly, personable interaction,” Shaw said. “He was generally interested in the client’s best interest and had stated that maybe he isn’t big enough for them.”
So the two stayed in touch over a year-and-a-half and found they had similar businesses and practices. Shaw recalled a business lunch where he asked Polak, “Are we stronger together, better than apart?”
The negotiations started then, Shaw said.
“We acquired his company and folded him with me,” Shaw said in the interview. “It’s a fairly small company but everybody came over with us.”
In the press statement Polak said: “This combination brings more depth of support and services to our clients. StoredTech has grown immensely here in Raleigh, and we are excited to be a part of it.”
StoredTech has added about a dozen new employees over the past year, Shaw said, and they currently have about nine open positions. They have offices in Queensbury, Albany and Plattsburgh, N.Y., and in Raleigh, N.C.

In a previous story about the company, Shaw said they use the CultureTalk system to on-board employees and make sure they have the right match, and all three employees "were culture talked,” he said.
