Americade moving to September 2021
From Americade
LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. -The 38th annual Americade Motorcycle Touring Rally is moving from early June to the week of Sept. 21-25, according to Christian Dutcher, Americade’s director. The additional three months of time should provide more confidence that the event will happen for Americade's motorcycle industry partners, Expo vendors, attendees, and Lake George businesses.
"We want to make 100% sure that a 2021 Americade will happen, but we're not confident an event of this size will be permissible in June," said Dutcher.
Finding an alternate date to Americade 2021 was challenging due to the need for multiple key venues to be available, as well as the need to not overlap another national motorcycle event.
A September date will allow participants to see the beauty of the Adirondacks at the peak of fall foliage, and not overlap with annual family vacations that dominate Lake George from late June through Labor Day, a concern expressed by many local businesses.
Skidmore College Return to Campus Plan
A statement from Skidmore College, Jan. 21, 2021
Skidmore College will begin welcoming students back to campus tomorrow, Jan. 22 and continuing through next week. Based on current circumstances and recommendations from medical experts, our Return to Campus Plan outlines the key steps and modifications we are taking to prevent the spread of coronavirus on campus during the crucial arrival and beginning-of-semester period. Our plan includes specific quarantine requirements, enhanced pre-arrival and on-campus testing requirements and operating in a “safe shelter” mode for the first week of the semester.
Limiting the positive cases upon arrival is of the utmost importance and will enable us to move into the semester with safety and to focus on maintaining a virus-free campus to the greatest extent possible. Our Campus Planning site is a resource to all and includes up to date information regarding our plans.
Glens Falls Announces Restaurant Bingo
From the City of Glens Falls, Jan. 14, 2021
GLENS FALLS — The Glens Falls Collaborative, with support from the City of Glens Falls and the Business Improvement District, has just announced Restaurant Bingo, running Monday, Jan. 18 through Feb. 28, 2021. Folks can print out the card at home, mark the restaurants they patronize, and once they have five in a row, email in their bingo card along with receipts/proof of purchase to ourglensfalls@gmail.com to enter.
Each week there will be a drawing to win a $20 gift card from one Glens Falls restaurant, a different one at random each week. A grand prize winner from all entries will be chosen on March 1, 2021, to be awarded a “staycation” gift certificate for an overnight stay and breakfast for two at the Queensbury Hotel.
This is a reprise of the Restaurant Bingo done in Spring 2020 when many restaurants were forced to go to all take-out or even close. A restaurant can still be patronized and marked on the bingo card if a gift certificate is purchased in this time period. Most closed restaurants are still selling gift certificates.
“We felt it was important to do something that wasn’t going to make more work for any of the businesses, but would still be fun for people to do,” says Nancy Turner, Secretary of the Glens Falls Collaborative.

Warren County Statement On Sports Resumption
From Warren County Board of Supervisors, Jan 25, 2021
Warren County leaders continue to review new New York State guidance pertaining to the potential resumption of “higher risk” sports competitions on Feb. 1. New York State has given its counties the authority to allow some competitions to resume next week after an analysis of health-related criteria.
New York State’s changes to COVID-related sports guidelines related to “higher risk sports” such as ice hockey, wrestling, basketball and martial arts read as follows:
Effective Feb. 1, 2021, participants in higher risk sports and recreation activities may partake in individual or distanced group training and organized no/low contact group training and, further, may partake in other types of play, including competitions and tournaments, only as permitted by the respective local health authorities (i.e., county health departments).
Local health authorities should consider the following factors in authorizing or continuing to prohibit higher risk sports and recreational activities as, in many areas, these factors may weigh against permitting such activities:
▪ whether there has been a more-transmissible variant of COVID-19 identified in the area
▪ local rates of COVID-19 transmission or rate of positivity
▪ local ability to monitor and enforce compliance.
Find full details of these state sports guidelines here.
Ginelle Jones, Warren County Health Services Director, said: “We understand there is a lot of interest in allowing some additional indoor sports to resume. This is a major decision that could have wide-ranging effects on COVID cases going forward, and we are consulting with our medical experts and state and regional partners to make sure our decisions are based on the best and most current information available.”
Rachel Seeber, Chairwoman for the Warren County Board of Supervisors, said, “Without a doubt, our Warren County Supervisors understand that there are many unanswered questions regarding the state's recent guidance late last Friday as it relates to allowing higher risk sports and recreation activities to resume. We are working hard with our partners that connect to our community so that we can make good, informed decisions as a region that continue to be in the best interest of the health and well-being of all Warren County residents and our neighbors.”
Warren County will publicly detail its decisions on this issue when they are made. In the interim, we ask that those who are involved in any sports activities continue do so using safety plans and COVID-related protocols to maintain a safe environment.

From Saratoga National Bank, Jan. 21, 2021
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Saratoga National Bank and Trust Company was recognized in January as a 5-Star Superior bank by BauerFinancial, Inc., the nation's leading bank rating and research firm. Saratoga National has earned this designation for the past 47 consecutive quarters, securing its prominent position as an "Exceptional Performance Bank."
The 5-Star rating indicates Saratoga National Bank and Trust Company is one of the strongest banks in the nation. To earn this rating, banks must excel in areas of capital quality, asset quality and profitability.
"This rating is impressive in the best of times," notes Karen Dorway, president of the research firm. "But I can't overstate the strength and prudence that Saratoga National Bank and Trust Company has exhibited over the past years that got it to this point."
