Bonacio buys portion of the dirt lot
A sliver of land at 49 South St. in Glens Falls has been sold to SpringCity Development Group LLC, for $45,000. The company is part of Bonacio Construction, which is developing much of the property around the intersection of Elm and South streets in Glens Falls. The sale was approved by the Glens Falls Common Council Tuesday May 10.

The land is one of three plots of land that make up a large dirt lot on South Street.
The portion sold is contiguous with two buildings that Bonacio will purchase from the local development corporation. The city plans to lease back some of the space in one of the buildings, once renovated. Current plans for the other building include a restaurant, and the dirt plot will be outdoor dining space, or similar, according to recent plans. The plans for the entire area are very fluid, officials have said.
This is all part of the Downtown Revitalization efforts, a $10 million grant the city won six years ago.

Dowd made Director of Fair Housing
Patrick Dowd, Glens Falls’ Community Development Director, was also named Fair Housing Officer in accordance with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations and policies. The move came during the City Council meeting May 10. He said that as the community development director, it makes sense to have Fair Housing also fall under him. It makes his office a one-stop shop for these concerns, he said. Related: the city declared April to be “Fair Housing Month” at their April 12 meeting.
