Schuylerville: Planning board and Zoning Board of Appeals members needed
The general purpose of a planning board is to provide for and guide the orderly growth and development of the community. The planning board meets once a month on the third Monday at the Schuylerville Village Hall. Meetings that fall on a holiday can be rescheduled, an announcement from the village offices says.
Some training would be required with any costs being covered by the Village of Schuylerville.
If you are interested in becoming a member of either the planning board or the zoning board of appeals please call or email the village office at 518-888-4406 or hpatterson@villageofschuylerville.org
Responsibilities are as follows:
- The planning board is charged with specific duties and responsibilities including review of subdivision plans and site plans, holding public hearings and forwarding recommendations on proposed zoning changes to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
- They work closely with the Code Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector to ensure that all changes and improvements within the village will have a positive impact on the residents of Schuylerville.
- The Zoning Board of Appeals would only meet if there is a recommendation from the planning board.
Saratoga Lodging is back, says Discover Saratoga
From a press release: April data shows a robust return to organized conventions and events, corporate travel, and leisure travel.
Once the COVID-19 Omicron variant subsided, meeting planner confidence and leisure travel both helped to make a strong spring season for Saratoga Springs and Saratoga County.
Also, the return of business travel has been swift, this was a missing component to getting us back to pre-pandemic levels. It is just pure evidence of just how strong the pent-up demand has actually been. This encouraging trend should continue through the busy summer season and into the fall. –Darryl Leggieri, President of Discover Saratoga
Long-closed Raintree Site to become a duplex village

The Raintree Restaurant and Lounge has been closed for years. The site is in the planning stages for five duplex houses.
According to Town of Lake George Planning Board documents, a developer is looking to update the former Raintree restaurant property in Lake George with five duplex homes. The proposal that was set to go before the board last week is smaller, down by one duplex, than originally proposed, documents say. Each building house two 3,232 square foot units and is on its own property with a central common lot owned by the home owners association.
The site is just south of the state-run Hearthstone Point Campground.
From the document: “Additional overflow parking spaces have been added. Accommodations have been made for access and turn-around of emergency vehicles. The water treatment system plan criteria and the stormwater management system have been revised in accordance to the Town Engineer comments. A Water Engineer's Report has been generated and it will be reviewed and approved by the Town Engineer and NYSDOH [New York State Department of Health]. Revisions for storm-water as well as grading plans to address the building heights to not exceed 33 ft. have been submitted for review. Site Plan Review is required for all major stormwater projects and new multiple family dwelling projects.”
The owner listed in town documents is Fred Vogel. He also owns the Lodges at Cresthaven between Lake George Village and Bolton Landing on Shoreline Drive. Attorney Jon Lapper, and planner Matt Huntington, of Studio A Landscape Architecture, are the owner-representatives on the project.
