Nemer Motors has donated $5,000 to Saratoga Hospital Foundation to cover the subscription costs of the LifeNet System. The donation covers a year of the service that the hospital has been using for five years, a hospital spokesperson said.
Lifenet transmits electrocardiogram--heart readings--and other critical patient information to the Emergency Department while the ambulance is en route. With the information, the hospital can prepare for the patient’s arrival and ensure that the emergency interventional cardiology team is at the ready, a press release announcing the gift said.
“Lifenet is instrumental in helping us reduce the time between the patient’s arrival in our...emergency center and the start of treatment—and that saves lives,” said Ann Marie Cross, director of emergency services at Saratoga Hospital.
The donation was in memory of Martin Nemer, the founder of the Nemer Motor Group, and father of Robert Nemer, a partner in the firm.
The elder Nemer was only 53 when he died unexpectedly of a heart attack.
“If Lifenet were available when my father had his heart attack, he might have lived,” Robert Nemer said in a statement. “If we can help save someone’s life by getting them treatment faster, that would be a fitting tribute to him.”
Saratoga Hospital Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Saratoga Hospital. The foundation manages the hospital’s charitable giving. Over the years, the foundation has raised more than $60 million for Saratoga Hospital programs and facilities, the press release said. Nemer Motor Group owns four dealerships, including in Saratoga. Several family members live in Saratoga Springs.
