Lake George Beach Club
Lake George Beach Club for sale, $6.5M
Lake George Beach Club, an increasingly popular nightspot next to Shepard Park in Lake George Village, is for sale for $6.5-million.
The listing includes the 6,100-square-foot, two-story bar and restaurant with two outdoor decks, two 70-foot docks with room for up to eight boats, and 56 feet of lakefront. John LaRocca of Davies Davies & Associates has the listing.
LaRocca said Lake George Beach Club is “the best location on the lake. They get tremendous foot traffic being right next to Shepard Park. It’s a family friendly place open 12 months a year.”
Lake George Beach Club was formerly known as Shepard’s Cove. Peter Spitalny and his son Jake bought the property in May 2016 for $1.67-million. Mr. Spitalny is president of Stein Fibers, a supplier of polyester fibers based in Colonie.
Jose Filomeno ran the business for the Spitalny’s. He was not available for comment at press time.
Taxes are put at $15,000 a year. The property is assessed for $1.8 million.
The property is one of many for sale in Lake George Village, which has seen a robust 2021 summer season and an energized winter season boosted by the popular Ice Castles.
King Neptune’s Bar & Grill, the Lake George Village Mall and Lake George Boat Rentals is for sale for $11.5 million, and Duffy’s Tavern, just north of Shepard Park, is for sale along with two other buildings for $4.38 million.
Dix Avenue's Sam's Diner closing Friday
Sam’s Diner is closing.
The family of Peter Brock announced on Facebook that “after 20 years as a part of the Brock family and nearly seven decades operating at 23 Dix Ave., Sam’s Diner is closing a chapter. Lisa Brock, her family and longtime friends of Sam’s Diner have made the difficult decision to close the business and continue the legacy of Peter Brock in other ways. They are eternally grateful for the support of the local community and can’t wait to see what new adventures are in store for the space that will always be in their hearts as ‘Sam’s Diner.’”
The last day is Friday, Feb. 25. Hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Contacted for comment, Lisa Brock said her son and son-in-law own the building and the parking lot. “It’s not up for sale but for the right price it could be…It was a tough decision to make. I really wanted to keep it until May. That would have been 20 years Peter owned it. It was his dream to own it.”
Pete Brock died last summer after a long battle with cancer.
Friends continued his “Small Business Challenge” to support Operation Santa Claus and raised a record $101,489 in 2021.
