The Queensbury Town Board will hear public comment on the proposed 2021 budget this evening. The proposed budget is just over $31.9 million.
The Chazen companies will likely be awarded an additional five weeks to finish up work on the town's garage capital project. The company had agreed to be largely completed by Oct. 1, 2020 and finished by, at the latest, Oct. 31. They requested an addtional $6562.50 for five addtional weeks of work. The total budget for their work as the "Clerk of the Works" project will run just over $80,000. The town had budgeted up to $99,500 for the project. The town board will take up the matter at their Nov. 2 meeting.
On the same project, the town also plans to shift some money around and pave more land near the garage than approved last year. The money, $12,565.89, goes MLB Construction Services LLC. Total payment is over $2.5 million.
The town hopes to improve traffic flow on Aviation and Quaker roads east from Northway Exit 19 to lower Warren Street where the road ends near the Hudson River. They plan to approve the use of $60,000 in grant funding to study Adaptive Signal Control Technologies along that corridor. The technology aims to keep traffic flowing smoothly by timing traffic signals properly.
Stilsing Electric Inc. offered the one and only proposal to create the pedestrian crossing and flashing beacon project at the intersection of Aviation and Potter roads in Queensbury, and the board will likely approve their bid of $28,380.
The town plans to buy, for back taxes, a one-third parcel of land on Farr Lane near Rush Pond. Tra-Tom Development Inc of Gansevoort is listed as the current owner. The parcel will be added access to the woods, park and trails around the pond.
