Tracey LaBelle today formally announced her campaign to become Saratoga Springs’ next Commissioner of Public Safety, she said in a press release.
In the release she said that she knows the public safety needs of the community and is prepared to make sure police, fire, and emergency services have the resources and support they need to serve the people of Saratoga Springs.
“Community, integrity, and unity will be the hallmarks of my term as the next Commissioner of Public Safety,” said LaBelle. She said there’s a great deal of work and rebuilding post-COVID. "I know I can help strengthen our community bond, hold ourselves to the highest ethical and moral standards, and unite all Saratogians at a time when we need to do so the most.”
“We cannot allow the negative impacts of ineffective public policy and the COVID-19 pandemic brought to Saratoga Springs become the new normal, " she said in the statement.
"Many of the state's mandates and restrictions have proven to be ineffective and arbitrary in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and have done little more than ensuring Saratogians aren't the ones making decisions on what is best for our town," she wrote in a follow-up email via her campaign manager, Robert Zullo III. "I will be a strong voice for our community and will fight to make sure that the voices of Saratogians are the ones governing our policy."
She is the daughter of Judge Lawrence J. LaBelle, who served as a Saratoga City Court Judge for more than 50 years.
“My family has been dedicated to serving the people of Saratoga Springs for more than three generations; giving back to the community that has given my family so much is a major factor why I jumped in this race,” said LaBelle.
She has lived in Saratoga Springs her entire life where she now resides with her husband Brian, their two children Jax and Dane, and their three dogs Oliver, Otis, and Dexter.
Robin Dalton is the current commissioner of public safety. She is running for mayor on a third party ticket after a separation from the Saratoga County Republican Party. John Franck, the commissioner of accounts, Michele Madigan, the commissioner of finance, and Mayor Meg Kelly are all stepping down at the end of their terms this year.
The GOP has nominated five people including current commissioner of public works, Anthony "Skip" Scirocco, to fill the seats.
