Lake George is the beach in the mountains, and for that reason, Jamie Longmuir of Blinker Fluid Productions chose the region for the Adirondack Jeep Invasion, planned for Father’s Day weekend, June 18-20 in Stony Creek and Lake George Village.
“The venue is all of it for us. We don’t want just some parking lot somewhere. We want somewhere really cool.,” he said.
A gathering of Jeep owners, enthusiasts and vendors will come together at 1,000 Acre Ranch in Stony Creek for the first annual celebration of the original “freedom machine,” open to any Jeep make, model or year. Jeep owners have held jamborees since at least the 1950s, the company website says.
Festivities will begin with trail rides and a Kick-Off Party on Friday, June 18 at the 1,000 Acre Ranch. A Show and Shine competition will be held at the Charles Wood Park in Lake George Village on Saturday, June 19. Other activities include trail rides, obstacle courses and several competitions.
Jamie Longmuir, owner of the New Jersey-based event company, has successfully hosted the New Jersey Jeep Invasion for years. It is the largest Jeep show in the Northeast, with over 2,500 Jeeps and 15,000 to 25,000 attendees and 125 vendors.
Longmuir said many of the participants requested a similar event in New York, so he spent two years researching venues and regions with enough hotel capacity and enjoyable venues. 1,000 Acre Ranch offered trails, scenery and a general willingness, he said.
“We’re hoping the participants think the same thing we do—that this is a home run. This is a first year event in a new location for us, launching during a pandemic...It’s going to be a big challenge. We think it’s going to be great,” Longmuir said.
“It’s important to me that people are respectful of the area. Lake George is friendly to cars, with the Adirondack Nationals and Americade. We want this to be an enjoyable event for everyone,” he said.
If the event is successful, Longmuir would like to host a modern muscle car show in the area. Longmuir said the event will be family friendly and open to anyone interested.
The event was coordinated in part with the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & CVB.
“We were thrilled when Jamie contacted our LGRCVB staff in June of last year. Our destination offers the lodging, attractions, venues, and trails making it a perfect fit for an event like this that incorporates adventure and is family friendly,” Gina Mintzer, executive director of the LGRCVB said in a statement.
There is no cost to spectators. Participants and enthusiasts can get tickets and more information at www.ADKJeepInvasion.com.
