Jeeps will return, to Ft. Ann and Lake George
The Jeeps are coming back next year after a successful jamboree this summer in the Lake George area, says Gina Mintzer of the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce and CVB. Jamie Longmuir of Blinker Fluid Productions brought the "invasion" of Jeep enthusiasts to the Lake George region in June. He will return for Father’s Day Weekend in June 2022, and double the number of Jeeps are expected, Mintzer said. The show-and-shine event, where owners polish and show their machines, will be at Wood Park in Lake George Village; the trail rides and other events will move to Adirondack Motocross in Ft. Ann, she said.
Jeremy Treadway, owner of Adirondack Motocross wrote in a text today that the details are still to be worked out, but he is happy to host.
“I think this is a great use of our property and will be a huge impact for all the local businesses,” Treadway wrote. “I believe this is another big step in the right direction.”
Ice Castles and Winter Carnival
Also from the Lake George Chamber and Gina Mintzer: The team of technicians who is bringing Ice Castles to Lake George Village for the first time this winter has been examining Charles R. Wood Park and has started planning the event that opens this winter. Construction for a January opening begins in the fall. The exhibition will include ice-carved tunnels, caverns, fountains, ice slides and frozen thrones. The chamber expects 100,000 to 125,000 people to attend, with 30 to 40% staying overnight, press materials say. Ice Castles' arrival coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Lake George Winter Carnival, press materials say.
