Hudson Headwaters Enhances Patient Experience with Transformed Urgent Care Center
From a press release: Hudson Headwaters Health Network has completed renovations to its Broad Street Health Center in Glens Falls. The updated facility offers urgent care services seven days a week, with no appointment necessary, for health concerns that arise suddenly but are not life-threatening. For further convenience, the center offers laboratory and X-ray services on-site, and lists estimated wait times on the Hudson Headwaters website.
“Not a day has gone by where a patient hasn’t commented on how appreciative they are of the transformation,” said Patti Hammond, executive vice president/chief operations officer. “These enhancements further our mission to provide accessible, high-quality health care for everyone, regardless of income or insurance.”
Renovations include an expanded waiting room with updated lighting and new artwork throughout the center. Thirteen urgent care exam rooms have also been redone and updated. The triage area has been redesigned so nursing staff may more efficiently assess patient needs. New features include a fully equipped treatment room and a new changing room in the medical imaging area. Amenities have been added for patients’ comfort including complimentary bottled water, free Wi-Fi connectivity and multi-device charging stations.
Externally, the center has been updated with new windows, signage, lighting, paint and landscaping. The facility has also rebuilt stairs and wheelchair ramps and has gained new roofing and a remodeled parking lot.
Hudson Headwaters invites community members to “walk” through the updated center in a virtual tour here.

Fort William Henry’s major renovation: Historic Carriage House at Fort William Henry to Become New Venue for Weddings, Meetings, and the Arts
From a press release: Fort William Henry will begin work in November to transform its historic Carriage House into a new venue for wedding receptions, business meetings and performing arts programs.
“What we really are investing in is the extraordinary beauty of Lake George,” said Fort William Henry Chairwoman and CEO Kathryn Flacke Muncil. “There is no place on Earth like Lake George. We are so fortunate to be stewards of this lake and this historic property.”
When it opens in May 2023, The Carriage House, with soaring ceilings, post and beam construction and a wraparound deck overlooking Lake George, will accommodate 460 people in theater-style seating and more than 300 people for banquets. Fort William Henry’s rentable space for meetings and weddings will grow to more than 16,000 square feet across four distinctive venues:
- The recently renovated Conference Center, which can hold 400 people theater-style, 250 banquet style.
- The White Lion Room, which offers extraordinary views of Lake George and can hold 200 people theater-style and 150 banquet-style.
- The Village Blacksmith restaurant and Tankard Taverne, smaller venues with distinctive food and beverage offerings.
In addition to receptions and business meetings, the Carriage House will continue to host the Lake George Music Festival, stage productions and other community events.
The project is part of a major reinvestment in the historic 18-acre Fort William Henry, the oldest resort on Lake George. Fort William Henry has invested $5 million to create premium rooms and renovate the rooms and public areas of its Grand Hotel and to overhaul its hotel kitchen and bar; $3 million to transform the Carriage House, and $1 million to renovate the Conference Center. The resort sold its Best Western Hotel at Exit 20 in Lake George in 2021 and has been investing the $4.6 million in proceeds in the Grand Hotel and conference center on Canada Street.
