Today, the Six Flags, Great Escape Theme Park hosts the annual South High Marathon dance, the annual fundraiser and rite of passage for seniors at the school.
Tomorrow, Saturday May 1, the park opens to visitors on the weekends only. Daily operation begins June 24.
The park has capacity restrictions of of 33%, Jason Lee, the park’s marketing and communications supervisor, wrote in an email today. To control the crowds, no one enters without a reservation, via sixflags.com/reserve for May and June.
“Guests are eager to get back to fun and thrills and experience our world-class attractions. All visitors including members, season pass holders and day ticket holders must make a reservation prior to their visit,” Lee wrote.
As one of the largest seasonal employers in the area, Six Flags Great Escape Resort is currently hiring hundreds of team members for the 2021 season, a recent press release says.
The theme park has struggled this spring to hire all they need, so the perks of employment have improved.
“We are currently hiring for Food Service, Rides, Security, and Lifeguards with select positions starting at $15 per hour. As an extra benefit, anyone who is hired by May 9 will receive complementary Gold Plus Memberships for them and up to three immediate family members,” Lee wrote in an email. “We are also pleased to introduce a free shift meal for our foods staff as an increased incentive.”
The press release says that applicants may now apply for jobs online and all interviews and training are done virtually.
Entry will not be the same as past years, but operations are allowing the park to complete construction on their newest ride, The Adirondack Outlaw, which the park delayed late last year because of the pandemic.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome our guests back to The Great Escape this season,” said Six Flags Great Escape Resort Park President, Rebecca Wood, in a press release. “We continue to keep the health and safety of our guests and team members a top priority, and we are laser-focused on delivering a safe and thrilling experience for our guests during their visit.”
