The Glens Falls Planning Board will take up a number of issues at their Nov. 3 meeting.
Donahue Candy and Tobacco Company LLC, of Glens Falls, hopes to buy the property at 31 Broad Street and turn it into a warehouse. The building, near the corner of Broad and Pine streets, is owned by Just Goods Inc., the bottlers of Just Water. The building acts as a distribution center of Just Water and other products, according to planning documents. The spring water company is based in New York City, but was founded in the Glens Falls area. It moved from its Glens Falls building to Queensbury last year. Donahue plans to buy the property for $500,000, according to the application on the Planning Board's docket.
The Saxton Sign Corp of Castleton on Hudson, N.Y. will create a 435 square foot sign for the Hannaford supermarket property at 175 Broad St. Glens Falls.
Owners of 68 Bay St., home to the Jewish congregation Shaaray Tefila, plan to rent classroom space in their basement to BOCES, the career and technical education organization. That space must first receive a change in occupancy certificate under state law, the application states. The Planning Board will offer guidance to the Glens Falls Common Council.
471 Glen Street will no longer be a commercial office building but a four-unit apartment building if the owners get their way. Gina Nassivera and Mark Monahan have asked to turn the former Balfour Realty office to residential use. The building will house two one-bedroom units, one two-bedroom unit, and the couple will live in a three bedroom unit, according to the application. The property is nearly a quarter acre, and the building is about 4,600 square feet. The application says that the couple has already received approval for additional driveway space at the site.
