Saratoga’s Pint Sized opening in Troy
August Rosa’s Pint Sized rathskeller bar on Broadway in Saratoga Springs is expanding to Troy, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. Pint Sized and No Fun will open in that city later this fall. The location on River Street has two entrances. One will open into the bar, the other into a music venue. Rosa told the ABJ that he has wanted to expand to Troy and to have a larger space for music for years. The Troy location will be the third, along with Spa City and Albany, in the Pint Sized portfolio.
App-driven Flex Bus opens in Saratoga County
FlexBus in southern Saratoga County is free for now, as county transportation leadership gets people to try the new shuttle-that-brings-you-anywhere. The service, using the TransLoc app works like any other ride-hailing service such as Lyft and Uber. Disability advocate Darlene McGraw told the Times Union, “I rode around all over the place yesterday." In a couple months, rides will cost $3, the story says.
Dinner rush: fun and fright
An unexpected dinner rush can take restaurateurs and their staffs by surprise, and the problem is that diners in these parties want to sit and eat at roughly the same time, a story in the Times-Union says. Some restaurants still feel a need to rise to the task of a sudden 20-person party, while other decline parties of that size, especially when they do not really have enough people on hand to care for the customers. It helps, they say, if the customers appear understanding from the get-go.
Unions, Gov. negotiate the vaccine mandate
Public service unions that represent nurses and others in Albany are negotiating with Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration about how to enforce the vaccine mandate that takes effect on Sept. 25, the Times-Union says. The governor’s office had nothing to say about how the mandate may be enforced, and the nurses’ union says that there is no one-size-fits-all solution, the story says.
