More BLM arrests coming

Dining decks in the warehouse district?
“It's a case of trucks vs. beer,” says the Albany Business Journal this morning. Can Druthers Brewing Co. install an outdoor dining deck in Albany's warehouse district near a chemical company's storage building? That’s the question in a lawsuit filed Sept. 10, the story says. The brewer was given the green light to build the deck via an Albany County variance on the property, but Surpass Chemical Co. Inc. is fighting back as they have done over many of the brewer’s decisions, the story says.
Health incubator comes to Capital District
The health tech and medical device industry will get start-up help via the nonprofit Center for Disability Services. The organization will offer their own R&D space and expertise to entrepreneurs developing health tech products, a story in the ABJ says. This is aimed at companies in the very early stages of health tech development. Products that the nonprofit makes themselves would also be sold or licensed to startups or other companies.
Winter carnival, already
The 2022 Saranac Lake Winter Carnival theme won’t pick itself, so the committee will begin discussion of it at the Elks Lodge at 30 Bloomingdale Ave. at 5:30 p.m. tonight, says the Adirondack Daily Enterprise. The decision on a theme was postponed from spring because of the coronavirus pandemic. The committee must get the theme to cartoonist and Saranac Lake native Garry Trudeau quickly in order to make posters and buttons on time, the story says. Possible themes: Festival of Foolery, Fiesta, Lumber Jacks & Jills, Totally ’80s, and Wizards & Dragons.
