One group helps another in Saratoga
Retailers and leaders in downtown Saratoga want people to remember that they are open, according to a story in the Saratogian this morning. The Saratoga Springs Downtown Special Assessment District board has granted $10,000 to the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association.
Non-profit giving travel and tourism advice
The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism in Lake Placid is participating in a program to increase diversity and inclusion in the tourism industry, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise reported over the weekend. The paper writes that ROOST will work to earn a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion certification from Travel Unity, a non-profit aimed at increasing diversity throughout the travel industry.
Wellspring plans a move to Malta in 2021
SaratogaToday is reporting that the Saratoga-Springs-based Wellspring is building a new location in Malta and plans to move in late 2021. The company works with victims of domestic violence. The current building on Broadway is 3,000 square feet, and the company has outgrown it. The new building is 8,000 square feet.
Coffee and a roast beef sandwich
Inspire Brands and Roark Capital are buying Dunkin' Brands (formerly Dunkin' Donuts), the New York Times reported over the weekend. The $11.3 billion deal will bring Dunkin' under the same ownership as Arby's, Buffalo Wild Wings and other franchises. Despite an announcement this summer to close 800 low-performing stores, the company still had rising profits, and Roark, the paper writes, likes the covid-friendly drive-thru windows and the chance to grow digital app sales.
