Jury trials in New York are suspended as the new plume of COVID-19 threatens to overwhelm the state's hospitals, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting this morning. The transcript of a video statement by New York's Chief Judge Janet DiFiore says, "Effective today, and until further notice, we are temporarily postponing the scheduling of new jury trials, and temporarily postponing the summoning of new trial jurors." Trials underway, generally, will be allowed to complete, she said.

SUNY Adirondack has named J. Buckley Bryan Jr., Jennifer Pettis and Capt. Evan Love to its Trailblazer Society, one of the ways the college honors alumni. The inductees are two veterans and a healthcare worker. All three, the story says, have strong backgrounds in philanthropy and giving to the community. The virtual ceremony to induct them into the society will be held today. To see bios of past Trailblazers, click here.
