Affordable housing in Stillwater
A plan before the land use boards in Stillwater would see the construction of a $47 million, 120 unit apartment complex off Brickyard Road in the town, the Albany Business Journal says. The developer, Dakota Partners of Massachusetts, bought nearly 26 acres for $1.2 million in September with the plan to use state tax credits and exemptions to rent apartments for as little as $516 a month, the story says.
Horse farm hits the market at $3.6M
A horse training farm, including two barns, a five-eighths mile training track with starting gate, a farmhouse, staff housing and guest housing in Porter’s Corners is listed at $3.6 million, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. The listing agent hints at the idea that the property might be attractive to developers or to a horse racing firm looking for a private practice track.
Saratoga County proposed budget drops tax rate
Saratoga County property owners could pay $2.12 per $1,000 of assessed value in 2023 taxes instead of the $2.23 per $1,000 of assessed value they paid this year, a 5% drop in the tax rate, the Daily Gazette is reporting. The spending overall drops $3.2 million below the 2022 adopted budget. The budget is balanced and does not use fund balance to reach the goals, the story says.
Riggi Estate under contract
Scrap metal mogul Adam Weitsman, is under contract to buy Palazzo Riggi on North Broadway in Saratoga Springs, the Times Union is reporting. Weitsman, owner of Upstate Shredding in Owego, N.Y., confirmed to the paper that he is under contract for the house, which was listed at $17.9 million, but he said he came in under the asking price. The Italian-esque home went on the market after the death of businessman and philanthropist Ronald Riggi in August. Michele Riggi is the current owner. Weitsman says he will tone down the ornate interior.
Queensbury tree to adorn 30 Rock
NBC New York has located an 82-foot fir tree in Queensbury that will be cut down and installed at the ice rink outside Rockefeller Center in New York City. The Lebowitz family of Glens Falls is donating the tree.
[Here’s hoping they get the county right: Queensbury Supervisor John Strough recalled on Nov. 1 that the White House Christmas tree in 1969 came from the North Country. President Nixon lit the tree on the Ellipse during the televised ceremony and thanked “Warren County, Ohio” for the donation.
