Biochar protest planned
People organizing against the proposed Saratoga Biochar plant on the Moreau Industrial Park property will hold an “awareness demonstration” Friday at 4 p.m. on the corner of Saratoga Avenue and Gansevoort Road in Moreau, the Post-Star is reporting. This is on top of a petition that they have already distributed, the story says.
Barkenhagen steps down at GF Collaborative president
Robin Barkenhagen has decided to step away from his duties as president of the Glens Falls Collaborative in order to focus on other projects, including a potential cannabis dispensary and the build out of the 42 Degree Tavern on the second floor of his shop at 207 Glen Street, the Post Star is reporting. Nancy Turner of the Bell House Inn on Bay Street was voted in as president during the collaborative board meeting in July. SUNY Tuition is frozen, faculty hiring is up
The state college system will spend $53 million on new, full-time faculty while freezing tuition and fees, the Times Union is reporting. The state will also spend $60 million on academic programs, student services and other priorities, the story says.
