Hanley Development buys near King’s Tavern
Saratoga Parking Services LLC has sold a stretch of property near King’s Tavern and the Saratoga Race Course for $5.25 million to Nantucket developer Jay Hanley of Hanley Development, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. [Read our coverage here, here, and here.] The land includes four houses and three vacant lots on two acres between Union Avenue and Mitchell Street in Saratoga Springs. The Sutton family owned the property and used the open space as track parking during the horse racing season. Hanley Development works primarily on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts, the story says.
Hochul, Zeldin win primaries
Gov. Kathy Hochul has won the Democratic primary in the New York State governor’s race. She will face downstate U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin, the winner of the Republican primary, the Times Union says. The paper has coverage of other races, too.
Protective Industrial Products moves HQ to Latham
Protective Industrial Products is moving its headquarters to Latham, into the former Ayco Co.'s administrative complex. The move reflects the firm’s growth to $1 billion in annual sales, a story in the Albany Business Journal says. Revenue increased to $895 million last year and employees have hit 1,750.
Queensbury updates short-term rental rules
The Queensbury Town Board passed a resolution updating short-term rental rules, the Post-Star says. New in the regulations is the requirement that the minimum stay at a short-term rental from May 15 to Sept. 15 is five days. This does not apply to a property if the landlord also lives in the neighborhood. With the move, the town is trying to keep the worst type of renters, ones who only come to party, from disturbing residential neighborhoods, the story says.
Blais says taxes rise if dissolution occurs
Lake George Village Mayor Bob Blais told residents at a meeting that village residents would see a water district, a sewer district, a debt district, and maybe more if the village dissolves and becomes part of the town of Lake George, the Post-Star is reporting. Thieves steal diesel fuel
Thieves stole nearly 800 gallons of diesel fuel from a Hebron farm, the owners told the Times Union. The owners of Lloyd Crest farm said they bought over 1,000 gallons of fuel last week, enough to last the summer, but by Friday most was gone. The price of a gallon of diesel fuel has gone from about $2.19 last winter to $5.19 last week, the story says.
