Wright Electric is setting up its headquarters in a 6,000-square-foot space inside the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park in Malta, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. The startup company is developing electric engines for smaller commercial jets flying one hour or less. It received seed funding from the Y Combinator program. Cider Belly Doughnuts focuses on Colonie, will reopen on Pearl Street
Cider Belly Doughnuts opened its Colonie location on Fuller Road in February yet had to close the original location on Pearl Street in Albany at about the same time, the Albany Business Journal reports. They have remained focused on the larger, Colonie location since it allows more production and higher traffic volume compared to the Albany space, the story says. They hope to reopen the Albany shop next week.
New detour on Bay Road in Queensbury
A culvert collapse on Bay Road in Queensbury is still under reconstruction, and the county has created a new detour around it, the Post-Star is reporting. Drivers now heading south on Bay Road will be directed onto Route 149 (Farm-to-Market Road), and vehicles heading north on Bay Road will be directed to Route 149 via Moon Hill and Oxbow Roads, the story says. Drivers can then use either Route 9L (Ridge Road) or Route 9 (Glen Road) to get to their north or south destinations, to the Northway (I-87) or elsewhere. Walkup Road had been the detour since the culvert collapsed in March, but the county said the plan was never to keep the detour there, though the changes have come after residents complained of the speed and volume of traffic, the story says.
Age and gun purchases split Assembly candidates
Republican New York State Assembly candidate David Catalfamo tells the Post-Star that he supports the 2nd Amendment and also raising the minimum age to purchase a semi-automatic weapon to 21. His counterpart, incumbent Democrat Carrie Woerner, voted against a measure to do just that. Woerner says that the proposed legislation was too broad and could have affected weapons often used in hunting, not just assault-style rifles, the story says. Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the bill into law on Monday. Catalfamo and Woerner will face each other at the polls this fall in a bid for the 113th Assembly District.

Five freestanding GreenLine pieces are made entirely from ocean waste, consumer recycled plastic and textile waste, the story reports from the builder’s website. Much of the waste is tossed-out fishing gear, netting and similar.
