The Saratoga Springs school budget passed by a wide margin in elections yesterday, the Times-Union is reporting. The race for the school board is still unofficial, but in the story it stands at:

Town of Queensbury Supervisor John Strough and the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation disagree on some facts about the Jenkinsville water situation, the Post-Star is reporting this morning. Strough made statements about the length of time the state would take to create a “site characterization” (or deep, detailed study) of the town’s closed landfill in Jenkinsville and the money needed to do so, at the town board meeting on Monday evening. The state says the time for either the state or the town to complete the investigation is similar and the state will give a cost estimate if the town decides it does not want to pursue the investigation itself, the story says. North Country state Senator Dan Stec asked Gov. Andrew Cuomo to reopen the state’s DMV offices, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. The request came in a letter to the governor requesting that walk-in appointments be allowed once again. The offices have been running by appointment only for a year.

Angelo Calbone, the CEO of Saratoga Hospital, says the four-year-old affiliation with Albany Medical Center has freed up resources and allowed the smaller hospital to expand, a story in the Albany Business Journal reports. Surgeries are available in Saratoga that were not before. Group purchasing, capital acquisition and reduced licensing costs are some of the benefits of the arrangement, the story reports.
