Fired Saratoga County administrator Spencer Hellwig has turned to the courts for back pay and restoration of his job, by filing even more documents in the county’s supreme court, the Times-Union is reporting. He was fired in January. On top of the recent filing, last month his lawyer filed documents seeking damages for "gross negligence, slander, libel and defamation," as well as "intentional infliction of emotional distress,” the story says. This stems from a pandemic-pay debacle in which people in the county were apparently promised time-and-a-half pay for all hours worked, not just overtime. Hellwig believes he was the scapegoat for decisions by others, the story says.
