Excelsior College in New York has established a graduate certificate in cannabis control, part of the MBA program, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. It’s a growing field as the state expects the legal pot industry to add $4.2 billion and at least 30,000 jobs over the next six years. Companies need people to keep on top of regulations and keep the company out of legal trouble, and the certificate helps with this, the story says.

Sounds like science fiction: a portable device that an investigator takes to a crime scene and and uses to instantly figure out whose blood is on the bed sheet, or at least, the age and gender of the person and when the blood was left on the sheet. This is the ultimate goal of SupraMEtric, and the SUNY Albany chemistry professor behind it, Igor Lednev, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. Using lasers and some software, the machine can determine what bodily fluid the investigator is looking at and who it came from. The start-up just won $256,000 from the National Science Foundation.

A tire store is looking to take over the space of the old Queensbury Pizza Hut on Route 9, the Post-Star is reporting this morning. The building would be razed and replaced with a 7,300 square foot building.

Broadband for America paid $4.2 million to create fake comments, emails and letters on the topic of net neutrality, the AP is reporting, via the Saratogian. The number of fake comments on the FCC rule change is in the tens of millions, and they all supported removing the Obama administration’s net neutrality rule, the story says.
Health Care and Fitness
Bob Ortmyer has become the newest president of Elizabethtown Community Hospital, part of the University of Vermont Health system, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. The story says he will head the Essex County-based system. It has 350 employees, two hospital campuses and a half-dozen health centers, the story says.
