Hacker Boat, which is mid-plan in a move to Queensbury, is asking for tax incentives from the Warren-Washington IDA to help move the factory in Hague to a location closer to the Northway, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. A group of investors is asking the 100-some-year-old mahogany boat builder to shift operations to North Carolina. The tax help would keep the plan moving toward Exit 18. The tax relief and other adjustments would make the boats more competitive in the market, the story says.

Also in the Post-Star, the maple syrup is still flowing, and bottlers will have guests over the next two weekends. The pandemic has closed much of the on-site public activity in the region’s maple houses, but producers are conducting curb-side delivery and allowing a few, masked people into the store at one time, the story says.
Entertainment and Sports
Lake Placid will have a summer, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. Organizers are already planning to host the Ironman triathlon, the Lake Placid Summit Classic lacrosse tournament and the Lake Placid Horse Shows, the story says. All of this depends on social distancing and mask-wearing along with other protocols to keep spectators and the athletes safe, the story says. Event organizers say they plan to follow state and local protocols, but are also hopeful that some regulations will be lessened as the time of the events draw near.

A seventh lawsuit faces former Catholic Bishop Howard Hubbard, the Times-Union is reporting. The unnamed plaintiff in the case lived in the Diocese of Albany, where Hubbard was a leader, and is a member of a church in Clifton Park. The plaintiff claims the former bishop molested him in 1977. The boy was 11 at the time. In his 50s now, his daughter is roughly the same age as he was at the time, and thinking of her innocence at that age moved him to act now, the story says.
