Work-life balance
Panelists at an Albany Business Journal event had three business takeaways post-pandemic, the story says. The three topics include what managers might think about in their changing relationships with employees, how to mentor and include people remotely and how to help employees and managers strike a work-life balance.
Lake George and pot sales
Before any marijuana dispensary can open in Lake George Village, the village board must decide whether they will allow retail pot sales at all, the Post-Star is reporting. Mayor Bob Blais has gotten pro- and con-emails and letters and will hold an informational meeting about the topic in September, the story says.
The myth of chip, abides
The Saratoga potato chip story is a myth! So says the Times-Union this morning. The story recounts the history of the potato chip story itself, a story steeped in the history of Spa City, with local legend, Marylou Whitney, taking on local historian Violet Dunn. Did Whitney’s, husband’s great-great-grandfather, “The Commodore” Vanderbilt, really send French fries back to the kitchen where the chef--annoyed--sliced the potato so thin it turned crispy in the frying oil? Doubtful. But of course race-goers will enjoy them during the Whitney this summer anyway.
Northwood School closes access to Cobble Hill
Lake Placid, the hamlet itself, is basecamp to nearby Cobble Hill, a story in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise says. No longer can people park cars on the school property at the base of the hill, the story says. Private Northwood School is no longer allowing use of its property, for security reasons, but the Adirondack Land Trust, which coordinates use of the private property in the area, is looking to find a new trailhead. Hikers can still hike the hill.
