Glens Falls: Arrow's 11-years of renovations
Arrow Financial, the publicly traded company at 240-250 Glen St. in Glens Falls, is updating its offices to show the region and the employees that they are here to stay, CEO Thomas Murphy says in an Albany Business Journal story. The upgrade, worth about $16 million, is the final step in an 11-year process that saw all of their buildings renovated, some for the first time since the 1960s, the story says. Warrensburg: Ash Anand/Lotus expanding to payroll services
Also in the ABJ, Ash Anand and his company Lotus Analytics of Warrensburg have moved into another field (the company already owns or is a party to the analytics company a few restaurants and car parts stores in the area). Now, his company is pushing into payroll services.
Saranac Lake: hydro-electric dollars
The electric generation station at Lake Flower as it flows into the Saranac River in the town of Saranac Lake produces more money for the town. The town changed the way it sells the electricity, a story in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise says. The traditional way is to sell energy to the grid and then buy it back--two cents to sell it and 12 cents to buy it, a money loser. Under the new method, the town get credits for what they produce, one kilowatt for one kilowatt. Called “remote net metering,” it is potentially a large boost in revenue, so long the dam produces energy, the story says. A drought could be problematic.
Saratoga Springs: rebounding arts scene is music to the ears
