The Great Escape reduces days

GlobalFoundries will build facility
GlobalFoundries will invest billions of dollars on a second computer chip factory in Saratoga County, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. The move will bump payroll by one-third to 4,000. The company will also invest $1 billion on its current plant in Malta. These moves aim to help assuage the worldwide computer chip shortage, the story says.
U.S. Canada border to crack open
Vaccinated U.S. citizens will be allowed to visit Canada, starting Aug. 9, with fewer restrictions, the Canadian government said yesterday. Proof of vaccination at least two weeks before entry is required, the story says.
Saratoga National Bank consolidating
Saratoga National Bank & Trust Co. will open a new office in Wilton after closing two branches elsewhere, the ABJ is reporting. The new branch is slated for Wilton Square on Route 50, the retail area already home to Home Depot, Target, Barnes and Noble and other stores. Branches in Gansevoort and Wilton will close. They were tenants in Stewart’s Shops strip malls. Although the bank has won federal banking approval for the new location, the closure of the two still must be approved, the story says.
