Good eats, good business, good animals in Saratoga
The patrons came back to Saratoga’s bars, restaurants and shops at the start of track season, and the owners were thrilled, according to a story in the Times-Union over the weekend. Business owners are thrilled, the story says but they are also busy, as staffing is sometimes short, and some of the workers need time off to do, for themselves, activities they could not do over the past year.
The Times-Union also ran a great eats list for Saratoga. The list includes a number of high-end places on Broadway and nearby, including Waterfront, Morrissey’s, 30 Lake and others.
The Saratogian has the Saratoga County Fair schedule of events. It runs July 22 to 25. Animal exhibits and shows along with tractor and truck pulls are on the agenda.
Apartments approved in Saranac Lake
Parking and storm water runoff kept one Adirondack Park Agency board member voted against a 70 unit apartment complex in Saranac Lake, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. The APA’s Art Lussi voted against the project though it is in a hamlet of the park, the least-regulated development area. The developer asked for a height variance so the ADA had a vote in the process. The complex, aimed at artists and people of modest incomes. The two-building complex will retain 45 units for artists. Another block of units is planned for people who earn 60% or less of Franklin County’s median income. Still others would rent to people earning 80% and 130% of the median income. The project passed 9 to 1.
