New York's annual Regional Economic Development Council competition has a budget of about $150 million, down from about $750 million in previous years, the Albany Business Journal reports this morning. The statewide competition is looking to fund job retention and COVID-19 recovery projects, the story says. The process will start in the spring.
Glens Falls is getting a healthy response to its request for proposals on the South Street redevelopment, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. About 30 firms have expressed interest in submitting a proposal, the story says, and many, many more have considered it, the story says. The project would build a community center and open air market near the corner of South and Elm streets in downtown Glens Falls. South Street is informally called, "The Street of Dreams."
The solar array proposed for the former Tee-Bird South golf course on Reynolds Road in Moreau received a lukewarm response from the town’s planning board last night, the Post-Star is reporting. The company U.S. Light Energy proposed the project as a PUD, a Planned Unit Development, which is allowed under the residential zoning of the location, but the board said it was too much solar and not enough mixed uses to really be considered a PUD, the story says.

American Eagle Outfitters clothing store will open a 6,400 square foot shop in the Outlet Malls near Exit 20 of the Northway, the Post-Star is reporting this morning. More stores to fill empty spaces are coming, representatives of the retail space says.
Travel, Tourism and Recreation
The Adirondack Loj has reopened, the Adirondack Explorer is reporting. The Loj and visitor center at the trailhead for Mt. Marcy closed after a COVID exposure. Two people on staff contracted the disease, and the center is opened with limited hours due to staff shortages.
