Commercial Real Estate
The Golden Corral and Comfort Inn owners--a mother and son team--are still in hot water in Saratoga County, the Albany Business Journal reports. The pair moved into bankruptcy on Jan. 11, but a lender is trying to force them to sell their assets and pay the lender at least part of the $12.7 million the lender says is owed. The hotel and restaurant fell into mortgage trouble before the pandemic hit. They renegotiated at that time, but then the pandemic decimated their income, the story says. The hotel is on Old Gick Road just east of Northway exit 15.

State rules allow people with comorbidities--extenuating conditions, such as obesity and diabetes, that make COVID more lethal--to get vaccinations, and Hudson Headwaters Health Network was ready, the Post-Star says. The health care provider sent letters and emails letting their patients know of the ruling. The early letter gave patients a better chance at getting a vaccine since slots open and are filled quickly, the story says.
A new form is available for seniors to fill out online and be added to a list for vaccination, Saratoga County announced during a press conference yesterday. The Saratogian reported the story. The form is here. Answers to questions on the form will determine if county residents are eligible, the story says.
Government, Law and Legal Services
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has sunk deeper into hot water as the FBI and the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn investigate him, the Times-Union is reporting. This all deals with the governor’s decision to force nursing homes last year to house residents at the start of the pandemic. Last week, the topic boiled over again when a top aide admitted that the administration had lied about morbidity data coming from nursing homes. Part of the investigation predates last week’s news. The investigation is still early, the T-U says. Sen. Chuck Grassley, a Republican of Iowa, has asked President Biden's administration to move the investigation from the southern to the northern district of New York.
