The news gets worse for the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. The second fireworks show, scheduled for Saturday, has been cancelled, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports. Saranac Lake Public Health officials, according to the story, said too many people showed up from out of town to watch the first fireworks show, and too many people failed to wear masks or maintain a social distance from one another.

Queensbury Supervisor John Strough will introduce a motion to remove the majority- and minority-leader positions on the Warren County Board that were created earlier this year by board Chair Rachel Seeber, a Republican, the Post-Star is reporting this morning. Seeber says that the new structure follows New York law more closely. Strough, a Democrat, says that the structure, by focusing on political party, will create division where there need be none, the story says.

Voters in the Town of Corinth approved the funding for a $12 million renovation of Corinth Central School, the Post-Star is reporting. The vote on Tuesday paves the way for renovations to the facade and entrances on the school as well as a major renovation of the auditorium. Classrooms will also see a makeover, the story says.

A partnership in the Albany area is trying to build Black wealth and racial equity in the city, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. AVillage Inc. and Siena College started working together to address food insecurity in the South End neighborhood, but have expanded that alliance to work on the larger issues of well-being, equity, ownership and Black wealth. The aim is to build community and foster Black ownership of property, among other aims, the story says.
