Adirondack Trust is facing a $10 million lawsuit from a couple local owners of hotels and restaurants. It's a counter-claim from the bank that says the owners mishandled almost $2 million in PPP money, a story in the Albany Business Journal reports. The bank froze some of the owners', Niral and Nirmala Patel's, assets, and they are suing for release. They own Golden Corral restaurants and Comfort Inns in the Capital Region and Saratoga.
Congress passed sweeping pandemic-related legislation last night: a 5,593 page bill spending $900 billion on pandemic relief and $1.4 trillion for other expenditures. The bipartisan bill passed by huge majorities, the Associated Press is reporting, via the Post-Star.
The Saratoga Springs library has been shut down until Dec. 28, the Saratogian is reporting this morning. Two employees tested positive for the virus. Other employees are still working to answer questions and reshelve books and other necessities.
The Clinton County Correctional Facility Annex, but not the main prison, in Dannemora will be shuttered by the end of March, a story in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise says. People are worried that the closures are being hurried, and are larger than necessary, since the state government is trying to close a $8.7 billion budget gap, the story says. Two other medium-security facilities are slated to close, as well.
