A kitchen appliance, "some type" of refrigeration unit, is the cause of the fire, the story says. A gofundme site has been set up to help the employees.

The Village of Fort Ann is beginning its state-mandated review of police policies, and public comment is open until Dec. 31 as the village puts together its task force of volunteers, the Post-Star reports.

Health Care and Fitness
Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Harrietstown are seeing a surge of COVID-19, but the numbers do not yet make the area a "yellow zone" under state metrics, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. About half of Tupper Lake's cases are people from Sunmount, a state residence for people with developmental disabilities, the ADE reports. Since residents do not leave the facility, workers, angry leaders argue, are bringing it in.
In a separate story on the site, the paper reports the Town of North Elba, including Lake Placid and Ray Brook, have felt the effects of tourists brining the coronavirus and spreading it through the hamlets. North Elba is the most affected town in Essex County, the paper says.
The Albany International Airport and SUNY Upstate Medical University are working together to give free COVID-19 tests to airport employees and to sell take-home testing kits to travelers for $30, a story in the Saratogian is reporting.
