Strip Mall sold
Central Point Plaza, a single-story strip mall in Albany was purchased for $4.15 million, the Albany Business Journal reports. Eric Choi and SNC Albany LLC purchased the property from Arthur Kontogiannis and A.G.K. Associates Inc, the story says. The 25,000 square foot plaza sits on 2.9 acres.
Manufacturer in Menands expands
NSH USA Corp. has acquired 3 acres next to its current location in Menands and plans to build a manufacturing center there, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. The center will help the company move from the rail industry into aerospace and defense work. NSH is a machine tool builder. The company plans to raze one building and construct a factory and training center to increase production of tools the freight and aerospace industry needs, the story says.
Dix Ave resurfacing coming
The Dix Avenue road construction in Glens Falls has been ongoing for months and the resurfacing begins Thursday and runs through Sept. 10, the Post-Star is reporting this morning. Rifenburg Construction of Troy began milling Dix Avenue from Ridge Street to Platt Street on Monday. Milling and repairs runs through Wednesday. All work is weather-permitting. The project cost about $3.7 million, $1 million over the original budget because of pandemic-related cost increases. The city won a $1.3 million grant as part of the project.
Trespassing charges dismissed
Two Democratic Party volunteers in Saratoga County, accused of trespassing while they were canvassing for a favored candidate, had the charges dropped in a Galway court, the Times Union reports. The charges stemmed from a confrontation in 2019 at the Mohican Hill Apartments between the canvassers and the property owner who claimed that canvassers needed permission to canvass. Frank Rossi Sr., a contributor to Republicans in local campaigns, insists that anyone canvassing on his property must seek permission first and also have an escort. The district attorney said justice would not be served by prosecution, the story reports.
Rep. Stefanik is a mom
U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik gave birth to a son, Samuel Albritton Manda, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. Stefanik, a Republican, was elected to represent New York’s 21st District in 2014. This is the first child for her and her husband, Matt Manda.
