Madigan’s son arrested, victim’s mom questions timing
A story in the Times-Union reports the mother of a robbery victim is wondering if arrests were made so many days after the fact because one of those arrested was the son of Saratoga Springs Commissioner of Finance Michele Madigan. The arrest report has not been provided to the mother, the story reports, though law says it should be. A Facebook post announcing the arrest has been pulled from the Saratoga Springs Police Department page, another point of contention for the mother of the victim.
Prime Storage sells assets
Prime Storage Group of Saratoga Springs will bring in about $750 million by the end of this year from the sale of assets it controls, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. Their Prime Storage Fund I bought 67 storage facilities and 65 have been sold thus far. Prime Storage CEO Bob Moser created Prime Storage Fund I in October 2015, raising $154.1 million in less than a year. With that, he purchased 67 facilities. The company upgrades and expands spaces and offers computer services to purchasers for operations management, the story says.
Cuomo told to resign after report on sexual assault
Democratic leaders from President Joe Biden to Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand called on New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign after the Attorney General’s report said he sexually assaulted 11 women who work for or with the governor, the Times Union is reporting. New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie said his party believes the governor can "no longer remain in office." It is Heastie’s job to bring impeachment proceedings. The Assembly is working to conclude its investigation as quickly as possible, the story says. Regional Democratic governors have called on Cuomo to resign.
Ironman not super-spreader event
“The Essex County Health Department has not confirmed any new cases of COVID-19 connected to the Ironman Lake Placid triathlon,” a story in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports. Thousands of volunteers helped 2,000 athletes compete in the annual event Sunday July 25. The jury is still out, however, as cases of the Delta variant of the virus are spreadable by vaccinated people, and reports might just not be in yet, the story says.
