The Saratoga Regional YMCA is considering a $5 million expansion, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. The 34,000 square foot expansion would move the senior center facilities from downtown Saratoga Springs to the campus on West Avenue, the story says.
Manufacturing, Agriculture and Forestry
At least two Native American nations in New York plan to grow and sell marijuana, New York Upstate is reporting. Shinnecock Indian Nation on Long Island plans to break ground on facilities soon, and the St. Regis Mohawks in the Adirondacks are looking at the possibilities, the story says. They may be ahead of the state, which currently does not have the regulations for retail growing and sale, the story says, though personal possession of three ounces is allowed.
Also in the ABJ, GlobalFoundries, the computer chip manufacturer, is moving its headquarters to Malta. The move from Santa Clara, California, marks an expansion of production for the company. The expansion is spurred on by Sen. Chuck Schumer and legislation at the federal level that will encourage more computer chip manufacturing on American soil, the story says.

The Associated Press, via the Post-Star, is reporting that New York will lose one seat in the House of Representatives after the latest census survey. Five states will lose one seat. Texas will gain two. New York needed to count just 89 more people in order to hold the seat, the story says, and the response rate at 64% was lower than the national average of 67%.
