Marijuana production capacity is beginning to sprout in New York, and a testing firm in Ballston Spa is ready to help it get to market, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. Alfredo Balarin, a landlord, real estate agent and Albany City councilman, introduced a law that would prohibit landlords from evicting tenants without “good cause.” The ABJ says only eight causes fall under the good-cause category with nonpayment of rent a major one. However, tenants can fight that if a rent hike is over 5% in a year, the story says. By forcing landlords to be better wards, the entire community wins, Balarin said.

Warren County Health Services Director Ginelle Jones says the vaccines are working and asks locals to keep up the good work, the Post-Star reported over the weekend. Ten people of the 25,000 fully vaccinated in the county have gotten COVID-19, post-vaccination, she said. [That is a mere 4-hundredths of 1% failure rate of the vaxx. --Editor] That number shows that the vaccine is effective, Jones says.

The Lake Placid public school system is in the throes of a back-and-forth over how to spend about $25,000 per year, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. The school board proposed using it to increase diversity and understanding, while a number of parents and educators, speaking through Board of Education member Colleen Locke, said they fear that the curriculum would become too "politicized" and would take resources away from low-income students.
