The Saranac Lake Village Board, like other cities, towns, villages and hamlets in the north country, is looking at rules to regulate Short-Term Rentals, often called STRs, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. The concern of some people is that STRs eat up affordable housing stock in a region. People who own homes that might be used for rentals are concerned that the government might take away a method they use to earn some money in a tourism-dependent area.

An investor’s strategy to liquidate the failed Comfort Inn and Golden Corral restaurant in Saratoga County may be “inequitable” to the people and companies that don’t have a larger stake in the businesses, the Albany Business Journal is reporting this morning. The trustee appointed to oversee the dissolution of the company wrote the court to say that the prime investor may only own 75% to 80% of the assets and therefore the rest of the money could go to smaller investors.

Tomorrow, the Great Escape will hold its first-ever drive-thru job fair, the Post-Star is reporting. After applying online, selected interviewees will drive to the Great Escape Lodge parking lot and meet with someone from Great Escape/Six Flags. The company must hire about 1,500 people, and with the May 1 opening date looming, it is a lot of work to do, the story says. [See our coverage here.]
